Behind the scenes – Auckland Town Hall Organ
We are pleased to announce another session of organ tours: on Saturday 1 July 2017.
Tours take about an hour and include orientation at the console and a walk among organ’s thousands of pipes and working parts with detailed explanations and demonstrations.
Each tour is limited to four people for safety and space reasons. The organ is on three levels requiring stairways and narrow passages to be negotiated, so we regret that children under eight and people with mobility, claustrophobia or vertigo issues cannot be accommodated.
To help with the cost of tours, the Trust suggests a donation of $25 per person, payable (cash or cheque) at the beginning of a tour. Note that donations to the Town Hall Organ Trust are tax deductible and a receipt will be given on request.
If you would like to join us on that day, please let us know as soon as possible, including in your email:
⦁ the number of places you require
⦁ the full name(s) of those attending
⦁ a telephone contact number
⦁ your preference for a morning or afternoon tour, and any time restrictions.
It is essential that a booking is made in advance, by email to:
Richard Leigh, Secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Please let us know the number of places required and we shall do our best to accommodate you – places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
We regret that we cannot accommodate casual visitors on the day.
