Saturday 13 August 2016, 7:30pm
Great Hall, Auckland Town Hall
Organ and brass is a thrilling combination and on Saturday 13 August Auckland Town Hall will be host to BAND TOGETHER, a symphonic spectacle of a scale rarely seen in New Zealand.
Music will range from the latest Star Wars film scores to evocative symphonic show pieces based on ghostly train rides and other vivid imagery. Many of the works will have been only recently premiered in the country. Young Auckland musician Timothy Carpenter will be organist in Saint-Saëns ‘Organ’ Symphony.
Band Together will feature the West City Concert Band, known for giving creative engaging performances of top tier works. Manukau Concert Band will present a polished performance of their beautiful national festival program, and the University of Auckland Concert Band, the largest competing band in the country, will bring students from all faculties together to put on an enthralling show.
